Memory not meant for storage
June 30th, 2009

I believe our memory exists for everything but storing our to-do lists. Our memory is for calling forward precious moments and experiences. The storage of things in the head jams the circuits and can produce unwanted headaches. A client of mine this past year had severe migraines. After we worked on emptying her head of all her action items, she had space inside and the headaches subsided.

One at a time vs. all at once
June 15th, 2009

If you don't define your next action, your conscious mind imagines doing everything all at once and it won’t move forward.

You wouldn't ask a child to eat everything on the dinner plate in one bite. Don't ask yourself to do a whole project by putting it on your next action list when it is really a project with multiple steps.

Congratulations

This came from a client today. Congratulations RF

My "old emails to process" folder now lists 0 items instead of 2,600 and my inbox, sent items, and deleted items list 0 at the moment.  Thanks for your help.  I appreciate the understanding of using the Next Action, Waiting for, etc. folders better.  And I didn't cheat.  I looked at each item and filed or deleted each.

Beginning the Day
June 01st, 2009

I notice how easy it can be to just dive into the day without taking a moment to pause. I watch my clients jump right into reading email without first glancing at the day to see what is on the schedule. Beginning the day with an overview can make the rest of the day easier.

One of my favorite ways to enter the day is to write for a few minutes about whatever is in my head. Yours might be to sit and look out the window and see what surfaces. Or you might close your eyes and follow your attention—the way I start my sessions with clients.

It doesn’t have to be a long process. It simply gathers your focus to this moment and allows you to focus your attention where it is most needed.

The Final Completion
May 12th, 2009
My friend, Betsy Taylor (Treat #90) completed her life on May 1, 2009 a month before her 81st birthday.  I was blessed to know her. She mastered the greatest next action of all - unconditional loving.  And I was one of the many grateful recipients.
